Tag Rugby tournament

On Thursday 10th March 10 pupils from Year 4 attended the Borough Tag Rugby Tournament at Southend Rugby club. This was a great event and all pupils really enjoyed themselves and got to play lots of Tag Rugby. We had a difficult group (the overall winners of the tournament were in our group!) and as such we did not manage to qualify for the second stage of the tournament but it was such a lovely afternoon and the pupils were enjoying it so much so we stayed and played some friendly games against others schools who had also not progressed on to the second round. Well done to those 10 pupils who represented their school so well. This week the pupils have been completing their sports relief mil

Year 5 Viking Workshop

On Friday our Year 5 children enjoyed dressing up as Norse warriors for a special viking workshop which gave the children range of activities designed to give them a deeper insight into this terms topic. The pupils created a wall from their shields, examined a display of weapons, learned about Viking women and their daily life, heard a story about how Thor got his hammer and played a Viking food game. The day was completed by a Viking ship burial, famous for being set alight and floated out into open water. A fun day was had by all.

Gemma's Farm Visit

Yesterday our nursery and reception children welcomed some very special visitors into the school. Gemma's farm, which is a mobile farm, popped into Porters Grange with an array of animals for the children to interact with. We had lambs and sheep, ducks a shetland pony, rabbits and ferrets. The children had a lovely time stroking and holding the hens and chickens. The afternoon nursery class loved having Almond the lamb roaming around the nursery classroom and feeding her a bottle of milk.

Voice in a Million

On Thursday 3rd of March 2016 the 25 members of Porters Grange choir travelled by coach to Wembley Arena to participate in the Voice in a Million Concert, accompanied by Mrs Baines, Mrs Shipley and Miss Lander. Once we arrived we were directed to our seats in the auditorium, where we rehearsed along with hundreds of children from other schools. After a break for tea, we changed into our VIAM t-shirts and awaited the start of the concert with excitement and anticipation. The concert was an amazing experience - we performed the music and actions to a number of songs including: Heroes, Hold back the river, Hold my hand. I believe I can fly and Roar. We travelled back by coach, arriving back in

Footbal: Porters Grange vs Edwards Hall

After a tough test in the previous match against Fairways which resulted in an 11-2 defeat. The Porters Grange team arrived at Edwards Hall in high spirits and confident of getting a good result. Two new players, Luke and Jack, came into the team to make their debuts. The game didn’t get off to the greatest starts with Porters going down 4-0 in the first 15 minutes. The last 5 minutes of the first half was some of the best football that we had played all the season. Kewin pulled one goal back just before half time to make it 4-1. The half time team talk almost worked wonders straight after half time as Porters came rushing out of the blocks. However the Edwards Hall goalkeeper made 3 fantast
