Tag Rugby tournament
On Thursday 10th March 10 pupils from Year 4 attended the Borough Tag Rugby Tournament at Southend Rugby club. This was a great event and all pupils really enjoyed themselves and got to play lots of Tag Rugby. Year 5 Viking Workshop
On Friday our Year 5 children enjoyed dressing up as Norse warriors for a special viking workshop which gave the children range of activities designed to give them a deeper insight into this terms topic. The pupils created a wall from their shields, examined a display of weapons, learned about Viking women and their daily life, heard a story about how Thor got his hammer and played a Viking food game. Gemma's Farm Visit
Yesterday our nursery and reception children welcomed some very special visitors into the school. Gemma's farm, which is a mobile farm, popped into Porters Grange with an array of animals for the children to interact with. We had lambs and sheep, ducks a shetland pony, rabbits and ferrets. Voice in a Million
On Thursday 3rd of March 2016 the 25 members of Porters Grange choir travelled by coach to Wembley Arena to participate in the Voice in a Million Concert, accompanied by Mrs Baines, Mrs Shipley and Miss Lander. After a tough test in the previous match against Fairways which resulted in an 11-2 defeat. The Porters Grange team arrived at Edwards Hall in high spirits and confident of getting a good result. Southend United sessions
The Year 5 children have started on a 6 week programme with Southend United Football Club. Every Tuesday afternoon two members of the Southend United Football team come into school to run a 90 minute session with the children. The session includes 45 minutes of classroom based workshops covering body, nutrition, the importance of exercise and information about food groups, in line with Government's eatwell plate.
