Football Tournament at Roots Hall

On Tuesday 17th May, 8 pupils were chosen to take part in the Community Games at the home of Southend United, Roots Hall. This was a very unique opportunity as not many people around the local area are able to say they have played on the hallowed turf! The Community Games was made up of 17 primary schools around Essex, split into 3 groups. Porters were put into Group 3 alongside, Great Wakering, Canvey Juniors, Westborough, Westerings and Jotmans Hall. The games started well for us with a 2-0 victory over a strong Westborough side, with Kewin Kwiek getting both the goals. The next match saw a 0-0 draw with future semi-finalists Great Wakering. This was a great result for Mr Deadman as Great

VE Day Celebrations

On Friday 6th May 2016 the children from year 4 invited the children from year 3 to celebrate VE day (Victory in Europe). In preparation for the afternoon celebrations, the children in Dolphin and Orca class made and sent their invitations, baked scones, made sandwiches and prepared their best work to share. The afternoon was a success where the children had the opportunity to create a VE day banner, take a WW2 selfie, taste delicious refreshments and much more. Overall the afternoon was a hit! ‘It was really fun and it was nice to spend time with the younger children’ Katie (Dolphin class) ‘It was great fun helping out the year three children - also the scones were yummy’ Connor (Dolphin cl

Reception Visit to Hyde Hall

All of the Reception children went to Hyde Hall today by coach. The sun was shining and the children were excited to start their first ever trip at Porters Grange. The staff at Hyde Hall were all friendly and welcomed us upon arrival. The day started with a talk about birds and the different noises birds make. Everyone had to close their eyes and listen to the different sounds. The children then had to investigate beans and find the root of their bean. The children were soon invited to explore different tables of activities. One was a sensory table where children could rub plants and smell their fingers and another table had flowers and plants for the children to use to make their own pain

This started a couple of weeks ago and Years 4, 3 and 1 have already had their coaching. Years 5 and 6 start theirs this week and EYFS will also be getting some time later in the summer term.
