Year 6 trip to Southchurch park

On Friday 12 th of May, after the KS2 SATs week, the children of Year 6 were lucky enough to relax, unwind and play with their friends at Southchurch Park. Year 6 took equipment with them to the park, and were able to play their favourite games with their friends all day. They brought their own packed lunches, or had a school packed lunch. They were also able to bring money to buy ice-cream, juice and sweets at the store. Everyone had a fantastic day and they managed to avoid the rain.... just!

Keeping Children Safe Online

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Keeping Children Safe Online talk on Wednesday 3rd May. This is a very important topic and one which can be both scary and challenging to tackle as parents. Our children are growing up in a world which poses different dangers to the one in which we grew up and as a result it is important that both children and parents are well informed. During the talk the issues covered related to cyber bullying, harmful internet content, digital footprints and grooming. These were looked at in relation to online gaming, social networking and the use of mobile technology. If you were unable to attend the meeting last week, there is a further opportunity to do so o

Year 5 Netball tournament

On Wednesday 26th April, Porters Grange took part in a netball tournament at Garons Leisure Centre. Eight students went along for the morning and represented the school. We showed great team spirit and sportsmanship which did not go unnoticed from the referees and the other teams. We played a total of three matches, losing the first, narrowly losing the second and then winning our final game. Unfortunately that was not enough to take us through to the next round. The children were not put off by that nor the poor weather. So much so that they were all asking for more matches in the future! A big well done to all that took part!
