Times Table Rock Stars (Literally)!

At Porters Grange, we really value our times tables and we know just how important they are to help us achieve success with our mathematics. So, it was a huge achievement, but not a major surprise that our school and some of our pupils recently topped a Times Tables Rock Stars tournament. 

The children of Porters competed against eleven other Southend schools in a contest titled ‘Southend Rocks’, which ran from the 2nd to the 29th of May 2025. Porters Grange performed amazingly well, with our school out scoring all eleven other schools, finishing with the highest total and taking first place overall. Not only that, Kai from Year 5 Sea Turtle Class, top scored in the entire competition, coming first out of 1,768 pupils who took part! Also finishing in the top 5 pupils in the entire competition was Enoch (Year 3) in third place, Obadah (Year 6) in fourth place with Mahmud (Year 5) finishing fifth overall. 

It is testament to the amazing efforts of the Porters Grange pupils to improve their times tables that we have done so well in these recent competitions, establishing ourselves as the highest averaging school within the Portico Academy Trust and the Southend schools who took part. Well done Porters Grange – you rock!
